Abella Weddings & Events feels like a quiet French countryside escape, and it’s just 35 minutes from the Twin Cities. The estate sits on 19 acres, giving you tons of space to explore, with a historic barn and wide-open outdoor areas perfect for ceremonies or golden hour photos. The modern reception hall can host up to 295 guests, so whether you’re planning something intimate or a larger event, there’s plenty of space. This venue is gorgeous and a perfect option in the Twin Cities area!

A Wedding at Abella Weddings and Events

Abella Weddings and Events, which sits in Chisago City, just a short drive from the Twin Cities, is a stunning venue sitting in the countryside that gives you a European feel. There’s so much to offer right on the property, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor spaces to utilize for your event, and 19-acres of grounds that you can use for photos, giving you plenty of variety. They also offer so much of what you need for your event, like tables and chairs, and other assorted furniture, so you can have one less thing to worry about.

Here are the spaces you will have access to on your wedding day:

• French Country Hall: This is a newer space on the property, built in 2019, and it has a stunning, sleek white interior that features crystal chandeliers and plenty of large windows that let in the most beautiful natural light. It’s very spacious and can fit up to 295 guests, and includes a cozy fireplace, a catering prep kitchen, climate control (both A/C and heat!), and beautiful tables and chairs for your use.
• Historic Barn: This is what catches your eye as soon as you arrive on the property! This restored historic barn is a gorgeous spot for a ceremony or cocktail hour, with it’s cafe string lighting and either white pews or white folding chairs. It also opens out onto the courtyard so you can have both an indoor/outdoor event!
• The Courtyard: This space sits directly between both the French Country Hall and the Historic Barn and is a perfect area for guests to play lawn games, or socialize during cocktail hour. You can make use of the string lights, cocktail tables and patio furniture as well!
• The Willow & Oak Grove: If you prefer an outdoor ceremony, you can choose this beautiful three-acre meadow that is surrounded by large, gorgeous trees. It can easily accommodate 300 guests, perfect for those larger events, and has stunning wooden reveal doors to really make a grand entrance.
• The Fields: There couldn’t be a more perfect spot for sunset couple portraits then these fields! The lights hit the tall grasses so beautifully, and it’s extra gorgeous in the summer when it’s at it’s greenest.
• The Cottage: This wedding party suite is located in the main farmhouse, and is extra spacious with a lounge area, dressing area, makeup and hair room, kitchenette, and a really stunning wraparound porch.
• The Granary: This is a separate wedding party suite, perfect for the men, that has video games, a dry bar, plenty of comfortable seating, and climate control to keep you cool in the summer and warm during those chilly months.

Abella is definitely a favorite venue of mine in the Twin Cities area! The owners really thought of everything and you can see that in all of the details. It’s definitely worth considering if you’re planning a wedding here!
